NatHERS/ BASIX

The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) is an Australian ratings tool that predicts the thermal performance of residential buildings according to standardised and repeatable assumptions, based on the design drawings & specifications.

It provides a star rating out of 10, indicating the relative thermal performance of each particular home design. The NatHERS star rating helps designers, builders and owners to understand how well a given house design is likely to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature when occupant use patterns align with the modelling assumptions.

The NatHERS process uses advanced simulation software to assess a range of design factors including dwelling orientation, insulation, glazing, construction materials, shading structures and airflow.

We provide NatHERS star ratings, Whole of Home Energy ratings and the Building and Sustainability Index (BASIX is used in NSW to measure a residential dwelling's potential sustainability performance) for all dwellings, Australia-wide, as required for building permit processes, and in accordance with the NatHERS modelling assumption and requirements.

Additionally, we provide optioneering services within the confines of the NatHERS system to optimise the Star and/or Whole of Home rating of your design, and assess the thermal comfort of each room in your house across the year.
